Emissions per Capita by Country in 2022

Dernière mise à jour : 2 oct. 2023

The emissions per capita for each country were calculated using the following formula:

Explanations:

  1. Emissions (gCO2eq/kWh): This is the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity generated. For Germany, this value is 380 gCO2eq/kWh380gCO2eq/kWh.

  2. Production (GWh): This is the total amount of electricity produced, measured in gigawatt-hours (GWh). For Germany, this value is 494.2 GWh494.2GWh.

  3. Population: This is the total number of people in the country. For Germany, this value is 83,369,843

  4. Convert Production to kWh: We need to convert the production from GWh to kWh for the formula to work. This is done by multiplying the production in GWh by 100000.

  5. Multiply Emissions by Production: Next, multiply the emissions (gCO2eq/kWh) by the converted production (kWh).

  6. Divide by Population: Finally, divide the result by the population to get emissions per capita.

Results

The chart above illustrates the emissions per capita for various countries, broken down by the types of energy sources used. The color coding represents different types of energy: Solar is yellow, Wind is light blue, Coal is black, Gas is grey, Oil is brown, and Nuclear is purple.
